Guess what I spent 3 1/2 hours on today?

Yes, a little paper-piecing project for the Guild. A whole bunch of us agreed to do two of these blocks, using our own 30's fabrics, with the guild supplying the white, blue center and outside yellow fabric. They are going to use them to make a couple of cool quilts for the July Auction/Fundraiser this year. They were quite stingy with the yellow fabric, you probably can't tell because of my artistic block-posing abilities, but I'm a little short. I wish they had been just a tad more generous with the yellow fabric (or included a cutting diagram). I figure I'll go to guild next month, check my name off the list as having turned them in and throw them quickly into the pile, so my name won't be associated with the 'short' blocks. Sounds like a good plan to me.
P.S. I found my missing fabric! I had actually left it at my quilt bee meeting last week and my friend, Judie brought it to me this week - on with binding!!

Looking for my fabric!!

I finished piecing the top for a fun quilt for a certain sister of mine, (who shall remain nameless, but who is becoming a grandmother this summer). Everything was going well, I am ready to piece the back, etc.
I like to make the binding before I quilt it, so everything is all ready to finish when I pop it off the machine. Well, suddenly I can't find the rest of my yellow-butterfly fabric to cut for the binding!!!! This is all I can find. I KNOW I had more than this left!!!

I could use some of the leftover blue, but I want the YELLOW! Where is it?? I had it in my hand, I got interrupted while straightening the sewing studio (don't you love how I call it that?) and now I cannot find it ANYWHERE! Frustrating - I have looked everywhere I can think of. I KNOW as soon as I cut the blue fabric for binding, I will find the yellow and the blue will be wasted!!! Argh!

Back from a relaxing vacation...

We spent 4 days down at our little condo in Hurricane and it was so fun and relaxing. And (drumroll, please) we got furniture!!! Most of it was given to us, or we hauled it down from our house - Master Bedroom (Thanks, Amanda & Mom) Guest Bedroom: (Thanks Denise and Mom)And, we bought couches and an ottoman! We got a killer deal down in St. George, so we are officially furnished! (Thanks, Brooke for refinishing our 1983 dresser!)The walls are looking pretty blank now, but we can get stuff as time goes on!

We went to Zion National Park on Friday and Saturday and it was great! We hiked the Emerald Pools the first day (I am out of shape) on Saturday, we went back and took the tandem, we biked all the way up the canyon (17 miles, round trip), it was so fun! It wasn't even that hard, although I noticed when we stopped that Mr. Good-looking was seriously mopping his brow, he was sweating so much, I was hardly sweating at all - I think, maybe he works a little harder than I do on the old tandem. (It was a seriously fab birthday present, it's the gift that keeps on giving!) We took a little hike at the end and ate our lunch in the sunshine - a beautiful day! Here is our sweet ride, all ready for the trip home last night:When we got home, we got to see all of our "close by" kids, it was so nice!

Love the condo, love being back home - and we came home to this:
Yippee! It's officially spring in my yard!

Funniest License Plate Frame - EVER...

I saw the funniest license plate frame today:

top: "Where are we going?"
bottom: "Why are we in a handbasket?"
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

(Mr. Handsome didn't get it - here's a hint, honey - the answer is 'hell')

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Sunday Afternoon...

It's a pretty quiet Sunday around here, I'm hoping some of my kids will pop in and visit. Mr. Handsome is sleeping in his chair, while watching "Shrek 3" - no fun. I was reading a book, but I've lost interest. We had the babies spend 2 nights here this week, maybe that is why it seems so quiet. (And clean)... Here's what it looked like the other night:

On Saturday, Grandpa took The Boy to Lowe's to get a spark plug for the lawn mower and some more sand for the sandbox. He is hoping that when he shows him how to pour it in, etc. that he will no longer want to flip the whole sandbox over and spill all the sand all over the patio. Babygirl NEVER spilled more than a little sand, but Shaun dumped the whole thing over when he was 1! He joined the "Lowe's Little Builder Club" or some such thing and got these great goggles and cute apron.

Maybe I'll go and bake some muffins...

Time to get to work...

I got my new McCall's Quilting magazine over the weekend and found a quilt pattern that I'm dying to make! It's the 'May/June' issue and the pattern I love is on page 50 "Dad's Plaids"

(Sorry it's sideways, it's not sideways on my computer.) I know you all want to make it too, so run out and buy an issue. It's rated "intermediate" - I hope I qualify. My only problem is that I have about 12 projects currently going, not counting the 2 tops I have to quilt in the basket plus the round-robin row quilt that is due on Thursday...

Mini Quilt...

I finally made this cute mini quilt that I've been meaning to make for awhile. It's called "Tiny Ticker Tape" and it's from "Crazy Mom Quilts" blog. It's raw edge and it gets quilted when you sew the patches on through all three layers.
My only issue with it, is that it's also called a 'stash buster'. For cryin' out loud, it's only about 16" square, so maybe if you're Barbie, it would bust your scrap stash, it didn't make even a tiny dent in mine! This is pretty much the 'before' AND 'after' of that 'stash-bustin' quilt.I will be donating it to the Utah Quilt Guild Mini Quilt Fundraiser in October. I used to wonder what people did with mini quilts, then at my friend, Jacque's house, I saw that she had several tacked up in her laundry room - way cute!
P.S. - Random thought - I was watching a (boring) basketball game with Mr. Handsome last night and noticed that nearly all of the sweaty/arm pit-hairy players were covered in tattoos, many of which looked like whole sentences! Since I can't even decide what pithy saying to put on the beam over my kitchen bar in vinyl lettering - I could NEVER think of what I would want tattooed on my body until the end of time - so I guess I won't be getting a tattoo any time soon. (I will also keep shaving my armpits).
