Date Night!

So for date night we went to the new Nickelcade by our house. It was way fun, I am sorry I forgot my camera. I know you all would have loved seeing Stacy and I (The oldest people there without children) shooting baskets, playing Mrs. Pac-Man, Asteroids, Martian Pinball, Air Hockey and Donkey Kong. After we got tired of games using our mad skills, we started playing games where basically you just drop in your nickel and you have a chance for tickets! It was super fun, I felt like I was in a Utah Casino - he he he. We got like 240 tickets! (another fun thing is to feed them into the machine that counts them - who knew?) Below are our spoils:
We were so excited to see the back-scratchers! Stacy searched high and low for one for me for Christmas and here there are - only 100 tickets each! I am taking one to the condo, for back-scratching emergencies down there! That purple thing is not a form of birth control, but a popper thing-y. We saw our nephew, David there too, he works there, I'm sure we'll be back!

Happy Birthday Mr. Handsome...

Stacy turned 47 this week! To celebrate, he invited his siblings over for a tamale making party! They all love tamales and were excited to come over for the party. Everyone brought a pot (to take the tamales home in) and a snack to share. Rose made a yummy birthday cake. We played a game of "Catch Phrase" afterwards and it was so funny that most of us are old enough that we needed to pass around the reading glasses with the game disc!
Here you can see that since Greg has the glasses, Stacy has to hold the bag waaay out to read the recipe:
Everyone crowded around the big counter to make their tamales:

Danny is never afraid to get his hands dirty:

Randy and Michele came all the way down from Ogden to join the fun:(Randy even wore Michele's pink apron). All in all a great time with lots of fun visiting and yummy food. Can't wait for the Sister-in-Law retreat next month!

Finally Broke Down...

Okay, so I've been thinking I might need a little help with reading - especially my scriptures, the words just seem to be getting smaller and smaller. Mr. Handsome Hubby has needed reading glasses for a few years now, if he forgets them in a darkish restaurant or if the printing on the menu is not a good high-contrast print, I generally read the menu to him. He needs them to fix little things around the house, too. Maybe I have been feeling a little superior in the eyeball department. Well, all good things must come to an end, including my run of not needing reading glasses. I have started to do a little hand-applique and I can't squint or pretend to see the tiny stitches well. So, I picked up these bad boys at Wal-Mart this morning. I would have put a picture of me wearing them, but I just look old and I didn't want to startle anyone. I will wear them at quilt group, since most of my friends there are older than me and they all wear glasses too. I take comfort that they are kinda cute - at least in the box!

Fun, Simple Quilt...

Our friends in the ward just adopted a cute little baby boy! We are so excited for them - they have waited a LONG time.

There is soft yellow Minkey on the back - my favorite backing for baby quilts.

Now we just have to buy real furniture...

We got back from a fun trip to Hurricane - closed on the condo! We can't seem to agree on furniture, so:
Here is the Living room: Dining Room:

Master Bedroom:

The Lovely, Guest Bedroom:
The guest bathroom: (Doesn't look half bad with the new shower curtain and lovely silk plant)
Luckily, the kitchen was already furnished:

We are looking forward to hanging out down there, it's near lots of fun hiking - Zion, St. George, etc. Nice biking weather and there is even a quilt shop or two! We probably won't be going much in the summer though.

Disappointment...

This afternoon, we were supposed to head down St. George way to close on a little condo we're buying in Hurricane. (That's pronounced "Herkin" for all of you non-Utah residents). I left Quilting early and dutifully packed up all of the extra stuff we have around here to take down, etc. Well, there's some glitch in the paperwork so we aren't going until NEXT week. I had hurried all week to get my stuff done, so I could be gone for a couple of days. (Fun company coming this weekend!) What am I supposed to do with all of this stuff for a week? Plus - I am going to be needing a laundry basket or two this week! Oh, well, I guess that gives me two days of uninterrupted quilting with no laundry duty. Sigh.

Here Kitty, Kitty...

Mr. Handsome Hubby needed a quilt donated for a real estate charity auction. I have had these blocks and all of the sashing material for a couple of years. This was a block exchange that my bee did, where we all made 12 of one block, then swapped. One of the blocks is the label on the back and 2 were made into wall hangings for an orphanage somewhere. My cat is the one in the bottom center, with no neck!!
Here is a close up of the wild cat fabric, plus my fancy micro-stippling (took a long time!).
