A little more Quilting...

Yes, I am still quilting a bit, even with working. (Not nearly as much as my working friend, Lynda, though.)
Yep, I've got this baby back up on the design wall...
The block in the lower, right corner took me nearly 3 hours to make!! (I know, I'm slow).
I finally got my applique prepped for this one:!
And this one, I've been putting off forever!
Hope to get lots of applique done in the next few days, we'll see. Happy Quilting to all of us!

Relaxation...

We're just back from a fabulous overnight trip to The Zermatt Resort, we swam in the pool, laid around in the sun, enjoyed the king sized bed (get your mind out of the gutter!) and ate at the fabulous buffet:We went for a fun hike this morning, went to lunch and enjoyed the movies, we saw "Inception", it was really wild and entertaining - I was sucked right in! Here is my sweetie, on the phone, which is not too unusual:
Here is me in my granny glasses at the restaurant: (Because I am a granny)
We just generally had a really good time! (There is something just so vacation-y about lying around by a swimming pool in the sun)

Quilt Fair Today!

Today, I took the day off of work and hung out at the Utah Valley Quilt Guild's annual Quilt Fair. There were free classes, lots of fun vendors and I got to see plenty of friends too - a perfect day!

As you can see, I was not shy around the vendors! I got some charm packs that I had been looking for, a cute pattern for a baby quilt (for the new arrival coming in February), a darling advent calendar kit, and some great deals on yardage. Mr. Handsome came down and bought a quilt kit for himself to make for one of our lucky sons. I was doing really well, staying within my previously decided 'budget', but...

Then there was the QUILT AUCTION! I wasn't going to buy anything! But that dang auctioneer gets me so worked up every year! I bought the darling mini quilt, made by my friend, Jacque - that was okay... But then my favorite quilt came up:It's this beauty under all of my purchases, quilted with variegated thread, made by another friend, Sharon. - I LOVE it! I just kept thinking - well, I work now, I can afford that! (Too bad I've 'pre-spent' my next check!) Oh, well - it was worth it! I think I'll sleep in the basement tonight, where it's cool, so I can sleep under it!

Happy Birthday, Mandy-Girl!

Today is Miss Amanda's 27th (!) birthday. I am so grateful that she is in our family - she certainly livens it up regularly. She is an amazingly gifted, talented girl. She is good at everything she does.
As you can see, she is also beautiful and a much-beloved Aunt! We had a fun party yesterday - thanks for coming everyone! (Jeff - we missed you!)

A little Quilting...

Okay, I've been working at the new job for a couple of weeks now - it's only part-time but I am TIRED - I am hoping I'll get used to this - (or, stop being such a baby).
I did manage to get the borders sewn on this quilt this week:

The good news is that next Tuesday is payday and Wednesday is the Utah Valley Quilt Fair!!

Cash Cow...

So for Father's Day, Doug and Tricia gave Mr. Handsome this fab candy machine that they got at a garage sale: (Shane is VERY jealous).Tonight, we got about $40 in quarters out of it! I think the kids are putting their own quarters in now, since ours were already all inside of it. We'd better save it for more candy - okay, who am I kidding, I'm taking it to the 'coinstar' to get an amazon gift certificate for more books for my new Kindle!!!
P.S. If you come by, bring a quarter or two...

First Day at Work...

None of my kids wanted to take my picture on my first day at work, (Even though I have taken countless pics of them on their first days of school.) so my sweetie took one:
Here I am, training with Ben (who is showing off). I think I will like this accounting job after I get the hang of it, which will take awhile, I'm sure. (Notice, I can wear a t-shirt to work - part of the reason I like this job!)

Finished!

Well, I finished my bedroom - Stacy painted the other wall - it's a pretty, light yellow, (even though you can hardly tell in the picture). Brooke painted my nightstand and the headboard - black to match our dresser. We still need to buy another black nightstand from IKEA - we had one, but it went to live at the condo.
Stacy thinks it's "a little bright". (What does he know) I'm so glad it's done - now - to get the house clean before I start work tomorrow...
