Rocky Mountain High...

Stacy and I took a fun, quick trip to Colorado this past weekend. We had never been, and since we now live "next door", we thought it would be fun to go. We did a lot of driving and enjoyed the scenery and each other. (Okay, and wonderful food, too! We went to my very favorite restaurant The Yardhouse in Denver and we also went to The Texas Roadhouse, anther fave). Here is me, posing with their wonderful chocolate/banana creme brulee - to die for!We stayed at the Doubletree Hotel in Grand Junction and it is now our favorite hotel. When we checked in (and out) they opened this magic cookie warming drawer and gave us each a warm chocolate chip cookie in a cute little paper bag. Delicious!!
On the drive to Grand Junction, we went to the "Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park", it was gorgeous! (Stacy is never too shy to ask perfect strangers to take our picture)

We took a bike ride in Grand Junction, along the Colorado River. Here is Stacy, making like a bird:
We're back now, and Shane is gone for two weeks (with Becca's family) - so it's like we're still on vacation!!! (Oh, yeah, we did listen to John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" while driving through the Rockies - just livin' the dream!)

Trying to get the "man chores" done around here...

Here is a picture of Shane, after I tied the trash to his belt loop, in hopes that he would take it out before he "forgot". I thought all of my trash problems were over...
What actually happened was that he untied it, looped it over the door knob and went on his merry way downstairs - to top it off, Stacy was home and he walked right out the door and left it on the knob???? I gave up and took it out myself!!

Deliciousness...

Today was The Utah Valley Quilt Guild's Annual Fair. These are my purchases ($97 later):
A wonderful "Quilt Soup" quilt kit, some cool "Jillily" appli-glue and some new titanium coated quilting needles. This was the first year I actually didn't buy anything at the auction! I just didn't look at the auctioneer, since he makes me buy stuff, seriously, he is that good! It was still really fun to watch the auction and enjoy the bake sale and a free class or two. I was so pleased to see some friends there - Jeanne, Marilyn, Carolyn, Megan, Myrna and of course, Brooke and Natalie. Tomorrow is a quilting day!

Trying to get a picture for the ward directory...(In Utah, there are pictures)

I thought it would be easy, since Shane and Amanda opted out, I just needed to get a picture of Stacy and I. I have had Brother Bledsoe's email address for weeks and weeks and have not sent in a picture. I finally did today, but you can see from below why it took me so long:
I don't think it's too much to ask for normal looking, do you?

The Shane Sommers and Friends Fun Run...

The other day, Shane decided to have a "fun run" 5K. He thought about charging an entrance fee and getting t-shirts, but then decided maybe not - he didn't think his siblings were going to fork over $10 apiece to be in it. Everyone showed up for the 8 a.m. starting time. The race was started with a "bottle rocket", it went up and when it popped, the race was on!

We had some walkers and bike riders as well as runners.

And, they're off!!

Here are the non-participaters, aka, "the cheering section": (Heading to the first corner to cheer) - and, yes, I am in that group - I am also the official photographer.

Here comes the winner, Mitch Macfarlane, followed by Karyn Hunter Heath, then Becca:

Here are the last of the "runners", making a mad dash not to be dead last!Shane didn't really want Mitch to come, since he knew he would beat him, but Brooke wants everyone to know that she beat Shane too and that was her goal. Shane says, "Wait until next time!" The race was followed by marginally cool water bottles and otter pops. Thanks for coming everyone!

Down in my nice, cool basement, I've been getting stuff done. Here are two quilts for baby Natalie (She loves them):

Wii Play Tennis...

Doug brought over his Wii and we learned how to play tennis. It was really fun and really, really funny!

Amanda and Tricia, waiting for the serve...

Stacy and Doug were a crack up! Stacy was grunting when he hit the ball and panting after a couple of matches. Doug had some fancy footwork going on. My shoulder was sore for days, and whenever I complained about it, Shane reminded me that it is embarrassing to be sore from a video game! (You should have seen him RUNNING across the family room when he bowled - he hit the wall everytime, but he got a strike!)

I'm sure we will be mastering other sports soon - all in the air conditioned comfort of our home!
