A little gift...

So, Meredith brought this little treasure over today:
19 cents at a garage sale - sweet! Stacy immediately put it up on the gate into our backyard.

Moving Along...

Okay, I finished my quilt top, it's going down to the condo, for the bottom bunk:
It's called: (Wait for it) "Windowpane" - I know -original.
We took Babygirl to meet her kindergarten teacher today:
She counted for her, told her the alphabet, her colors, shapes, etc. She also did a great job at addition and subtraction - very impressive - but we already knew she was very impressive. (We happen to know that she is perfect) Stacy and I sat in the tiny chairs and filled out school paperwork, but I was wishing for my reading glasses - which never happened when I sent my own kids to school - did they start printing the papers in smaller type? Her teacher's name is "Mrs. Smiley" - could you ever imagine a more perfect name for a kindergarten teacher?
Part way through her little visit, she pointed to her ruffly skirt and told her teacher if she sits on the ruffles too long, they'll get squished. (She won't wear it on long car rides, either). Only a week until Kindergarten starts, then a week after that, she'll be leaving and I'll be crying...

Is my Brain turning to Mush?

Okay, don't answer that. I can tell that my blog posts are getting fewer and farther (further?) between. First I started working, then Babygirl came to live with us and while Grandpa does a great job with her, there is still the extra laundry, teeth brushing, 3-times-a-day clothes changing (see: extra laundry), hair washing and fixing (I failed miserably at hair fixing with my own daughters already), figuring out something for that girl to eat that doesn't consist of "My little pony" fruit snacks, book reading (not Grandpa's forte) and I could go on, as anyone who has been a mother can relate. My boys and their wives are super at entertaining her for me when I need to take care of my pre-five year old obligations, etc. which I hugely appreciate. She is an angel when I take her to work each afternoon and we are all enjoying her immensely, it's just I don't think I have any brain cells left...
I did manage to get a quilt top quilted today - my famous meandering pattern (he, he, he) and will hopefully get it bound in the next couple of days so I can show it off to you all.

Babygirl is 5!

Babygirl is 5 years old today. 5 fabulous years of being her Grandma! Of enjoying the best parts of parenting, without the really hard stuff and worries. Everyone loves this little girl so much!
Yesterday, we made cupcakes and she took them around to all of the family to celebrate her birthday. (Pink and Purple frosting with sprinkles) Tonight, family birthday party - at the movies!

Well, Brooke, Ben and two of the babies left this morning at 5:30 a.m. We got to give them all good hugs before they drove away, hoping to make Nebraska by tonight. Mr. Good-looking and myself took off for a nice, long, hike at the same time - it was nice to have something to do besides crawl back into bed to cry. We hiked up around Y Mountain and came out at Rock Canyon. It was a beautiful hike, after we got past the (insert swear word here) Y trail, which is a particular non-favorite hike of mine. Since we left so early, it was cool all the way - actually a little cold in some parts. We hiked through chest high bushes a lot of the way. The trail was pretty clear, but lots of bushes & small trees were growing over it. My legs are pretty scratched up and I worked up two blisters on my heels - I forgot to wear two pairs of socks. It took us about 5 1/2 hours - in this picture, I could barely squat down and get up again - my legs were tired! Here are the two of us - having a good time, as usual:
Well, we're off to pick up Babygirl at the other Grandparent's house and be parents again for a month - fun, fun!

Is my life boring?

I can't seem to think of anything clever or informative to blog about. I am loving my life a LOT. Just got back from a great family reunion on my hubby's side. Camping (sort of, I actually drove the 1+hour back to the condo to sleep each night - worth every moment of extra driving!) and eating and visiting, etc. We got home Saturday night to hang out with my side of the family who were all up from California for Kira's little baby's blessing. (Sweet little Luke.) We had a great party, with more eating, visiting, etc. (I'm sensing a pattern here)
I lost another pound - always exciting.
Today was my first day at my job without my trainer - Ben - (Although I did call him 15 minutes in, I had a question.)
I am loving my new job.
Lots more fun parties this week - BUT they are leading up to a horrific event - Brooke, Ben and the babies moving to Missouri on Friday! We are keeping babygirl for a month, so she can start kindergarten here and then transfer to Missouri (she missed the cut-off there). Stacy says she is our little consolation prize.
Since, I may be sobbing all day on Friday, we've planned a fun 8 or 9 mile hike on Saturday, hopefully that will take my mind off the pain of missing the babies, and Brooke and Ben - and put the pain onto my feet, legs, hips, etc.

At the reunion, we had these great shirts - different colors for each generation - with the number you were on the back (For example, Shaun's has a number 3 on the back, he is the 3rd great grandchild born) Super Idea, I'm hoping to get some pics to post of all of us.

Family

On Sunday, Mr. Good-looking took pics of Brooke's family and Amanda and Jeremy for me to blow up and hang on my blank bedroom wall. They turned out really well:

Doug, Tricia, Shane, Becca & Jeff- you're next!

P.S. On a very sad note, Brooke, Ben and my perfect grandchildren are moving across the COUNTRY in 10 short days (boohoohoo!)
