The Rest of the Story...

Various Sommers' Family Members, this was not everyone, as we had people coming and going all weekend:

The Sommers' Family Reunion was totally fabulous! Nearly everyone in the whole family was able to at least come by and most spent a night or two. Here are cute Jeremy and Amanda, who dropped by the first day and stayed awhile. Here are Brooke and Ben. Stacy was trying to get them to smile, when Uncle Danny walked by and pulled up his shirt, saying, "smile at this". Here are Shane and Aunt Denise:

Doug and Tricia brought this cool hammock that was lots of fun (well, Natalie didn't think too much of it):

Here we are, waiting for our turn on the water:There was canoeing, with plenty of splashing and of course, as mentioned, Uncle Danny's family fell in. There were also paddle boats, but the people who did that, had no oars to splash with (which wasn't allowed anyway, but I am a pretty "clumsy" rower, so some people got "accidentally" splashed with my oar):
Here are the newlyweds, ready to go on the challenge course:
Here's Doug, climbing the cargo net:
Here's Jessica, up on the top, on the bridge (the one that Stacy said made him feel like Donkey on Shrek, "Shrek, I'm lookin' down!")

Here's Jen, climbing onto the bridge:

I had no intention of going up there (pulling all of my body weight up like 50 feet!), but then my 70 year old Mother-in-law went up and my pride gave me no choice, I had to go up too!
I may be smiling, but it's not fun!
All in all, it was a wonderful trip, can't wait until next time!!!

Family Reunion Song...

Sung to the tune of "The Beverly Hillbillies"...

Let me tell a story, 'bout a family I know;
They have lots of kids and babies in tow.
After many years of saving family funds;
They got together for a family reunion...
(Games, Food, Fun, you know)
Uncle Jeff planned for all of the food;
Everyone was in a really good mood.
Tricia fried up all of the dough;
And then we all sat down and played BINGO...
(Prizes, for everyone)
Amanda came by, wearing a tank top;
Ranger came over and said you ought not.
Service project got us all dirtied up;
That didn't matter, we filled up the truck...
(Sticks, weeds, dirt)
We hiked to the lake and got in the boats;
Danny's family tipped, and that was no joke.
We're all waiting 'round to play family feud;
We're all just hopin' it won't get too crude...

Now granny, she's got a whole lotta kin;
The family's growin' fast;
Cuz everyone's marryin' in.
Don't miss out on the the next reunion;
And pay your dues to the family fund...
(Check, cash, credit card, all forms of payment accepted)

Stacy sang all of the parts in parenthesis in his "deep" voice and it was pretty much hilarious! Everyone's song was great! We just got back from the family reunion up at the church's Heber Valley Camp. Carolyn Sommers and her 7 children and their families!

(Here is Stacy, writing most of the song)

Ahem...

It has been brought to my attention that I am neglecting some of my wonderful children on my blog (maybe the ones who live kind of far and don't visit as often????)...So, here is cute Amanda on her birthday:And here is my sweet Jeff, who is moving to California today (boo hoo) - that means I will be heading to California in October to visit him on his birthday!
P.S. Shane and Becca are talking Dec. 17 for a wedding day!!!

Shane and Becca are engaged!!!

Today Shane washed his car, bought flowers, wore a new shirt and picked up his cute girlfriend, Becca for a special date. They went to Red Lobster for a lobster dinner, then off for ice skating. They drove up to temple square, where Shane asked her the Big Question! They're thinking January, Salt Lake Temple and we are thrilled.

Timpanogos Cave

Stacy took the morning off of work and we hiked to Timpanogos cave today. It took us a little over an hour to get to the cave entrance and we thought we did pretty well, until we heard some young people brag about doing it in 30 minutes! It was a fun hike and nice and cool this morning when we went. I had done it a long time ago and now I believe them when they say to bring a jacket for inside the cave. The temperature is always 45 degrees (refrigerator-ish).

"Ranger Sue" took this one of the both of us:

I thought I was going to get a good night's sleep...

Well, we babysat that cute boy this weekend while Brooke and Ben went to Colorado. He is awfully cute, but kind of sick, so he did not sleep well. I am definitely NOT used to the "no sleep" thing that I lived through for many years (many years ago). They came and collected him tonight, so Stacy and I were dreaming of a good night's sleep. Then, Shane, David, Becca, Tricia and Doug popped in and starting dragging 'band' equipment up from the basement:
Yes, that's Doug in my glasses so he could see the words to the song. The gloves are so funny, when he was really rockin' the song, he started flinging them off. It annoys the heck out of Shane, which makes it even funnier. Stacy did pretty good at singing "The Joker" and I sort of got the hang of the bass guitar. Neither one of us could do the drums at all, we kept getting booed off the stage. It's nearly 10:30 and I'm going back to try again...(No sleep tonight!)

Natalie Jane's Quilt...

One more quilt for miss Natalie Jane - her third and she is only 3 months old. It will be her last until she moves into a twin size bed. (Don't tell Shane, he is jealous that he only has one!)
It is called "Sweet Baby Girl"

More Quilting...

I've been to the Springville Quilt Show at the Art Museum and it was very inspiring! Here are a few more quilts I've finished this summer:

Here is my "Round Robin Quilt" that we made in our bee - I made the center (flowers) and each month it got passed to another quilter in the group. 4 of my friends each put a border on it. I LOVE it and it will always have special memories for me. We had several groups going in our bee and all of the quilts turned out so great, I am amazed at the creativity of my friends! We had such fun seeing all 15 or so of the quilts each month as new borders were added.

I loved my round robin quilt so much, I decided to use some of my leftover blocks to make a mini quilt for the state guild fundraiser:

I also finished this darling pinwheel quilt for my dear friend, Samantha Smart, who is expecting her first baby this month! I got the pattern on www.modabakeshop.com I tweaked it a little - adding another row to make it square. I sent it off to California, I hope she enjoys it!I have another quilt on the table now, hope to get it quilted and finished this week!

Babygirl...

Last night we went up to the Heber Valley Camp to check out the digs for our family reunion coming up later this month. We took the babygirl, she was excited to go to "the mountains". She fell asleep on the way up. They wouldn't let us in to tour the camp because it was girls' camp and we weren't on "the list". So, we turned around and drove home. Babygirl woke up, and since we couldn't disappoint her, we stopped at Bridal Veil Falls and played in the water for a little while. I think she enjoyed being the "only child" and "special" with just grown ups who adore her.

With Grandma Sommers, who didn't mind getting her tennies wet for babygirl.

My mom sent Brooke a sewing machine, since Brooke has taken up quilting. The kids were thrilled with the bubble wrap!

Another Kitchen Masterpiece...

Stacy made his famous salsa for dinner tonight. We had carne asada with rice, tortillas, etc. Delicious! He wanted me to come and watch his "cooking show", and I must admit, when I cook in my new kitchen, I think I should have a cooking show too, since it is so fabulous! (Doesn't he look divine in that apron - what a wonderful man!)

The finished product -
