Babysitting Woes

We went to the temple last night with Brooke and Ben. Shane was assigned to babysit. I left out some mac n cheese for him to give them for dinner, since they love it. Apparently, he can babysit and he can cook, but he can't do both at once. He was amazed that they ate 6 bananas! (Maybe they were hungry for dinner!!!). Austin is working on the potty-training business and she had a number 2 accident in her princess panties. Shane was APPALLED! She said, "Uncle Shane, I need you to change me" Luckily, for all concerned, Shane's friend, Aldana was over, so Shane promptly wrote her a check for $5 to do clean up. She did - panties in the trash - problem solved. Shane was VERY glad to see us when we got home.

Things that go Bump...

When the kids were over on Saturday, the boy, was in the bathroom (where he is not allowed), so Grandpa went to get him, Shaun was climbing out of the shower and tripped and hit his little forhead right on the edge of the bathroom door. He was sad. He also got very tired of grandpa taking pictures of his head! (It looks much better today - thank goodness, we wouldn't want to be on grandchild restriction!)

Saturday with the Grandbabies

Well, Stacy has been out of town a lot the last two weeks, so this morning, we went and picked up those cute grandbabies and took them to breakfast and then we went down to "Cook's Nursery" on 1600 N (great nursery). At Cook's, they have these great little red wagons (radio flyers, no less) to cart your purchases around in. When we got there, we put Shaun in the wagon and Austin pulled him all around while grandma got some new geraniums for the mailbox planter. After a while, they switched places. Shaun LOVED pulling the wagon, he would not let Austin have another turn, so we got him his own. They pulled them up and down nearly all the aisles. Shaun fell, but just got right back up (filthy, but he could care less). They found a little fountain to play in and were in heaven. When it was time to go, Shaun was definitely NOT OKAY with letting go of the wagon, screaming, fits, throwing himself on the ground, etc. Of course, Stacy asked to talk to the manager to see if we could buy one, apparently not as they even use the old ones for parts. What were the grandparents to do? Of course, we stopped at Toys R Us and dropped $120 for a wagon they could take home. It was hard work, putting it together, with Shaun so tired, we finally had to put him to bed. This was after, Stacy gave both grandbabies a tiny amount of diet coke in their sippy cups.

Summer in the Basement - Quilting

Well, I've finished another one, just in time for my niece Danielle's baby shower tomorrow. She is having a baby girl in September (great month for birthdays). Congratulations, Mike and Danielle!

Happy Birthday, Amanda!

Mandy girl turned 25 yesterday!!! We marked the occasion with a fun BINGO party. (Bring a prize and a snack to share and you're in!) There was some heated discussion over who would be the caller (we decided to take turns) and how fast to call the numbers. Stacy even got his glasses out to make sure he called 'em correctly. (2 + 2, B4!) There were gift cards, movies, a fresh raspberry pie and more up for grabs. Shane was disqualified one round for playing two cards at a time, he was mad! (Yeah, we were mad too Shane, at you!) Brooke did some fancy trading to go home with what she really wanted, "The Incredibles". All in all, it was a fun time, with yummy food and plenty to laugh about. Happy Birthday, Amanda, you are a beautiful, treasured daughter, we love you.

The Summer Of Quilting Continues

Well, I've popped out another quilt, this one for my niece, Sausha Sommers. She had a cute baby boy a few months ago. I made it at the KNOTTs quilt retreat we had in the spring. The pattern is a free download called "Wickedly Easy" and it was very easy. It is made with "30's fabrics".
